R&B Soul is a genre of music popularized during the 90s in the united states especially amongst the African American community. As it’s stated in the name, it's basically rhythm and blues, which means that the music is characterized by “the use of blues chords played over a consistent backbeat” or for those who don't know a lot about music it basically sounds like a soft rap. One of the main artists in this genre is called Lauryn Hill. She is an American rapper, singer and producer who has won 8 grammys in her career. At the start of her career she was part of a band called the fugees who released very popular songs like “Killing me softly”. Later on, she became a solo singer and is considered one of the best rappers of all time. Even Kanye West and Drake have sampled some of her songs into their own songs; like in “Nice for what” and “All falls down”. So, if you are interested in finding some new music with this type of genre I recommend listening to Lauryn Hill and some of songs like: “Ex-factor”, “Doo Wop (That thing)”, and many more.
